In theory anyone who wants to pursue a career as a tree surgeon is free to do so. However, some people are definitely better candidates than others. First and foremost a tree surgeon must love the outdoors and the idea of working outdoors, even in less-than-ideal weather conditions. Secondly, tree surgery is a physically demanding job requiring the tree surgeon to spend long hours climbing trees and working with heavy equipment like chainsaws while suspended high above the ground. So a high degree of physical fitness is definitely a plus. And as you may have surmised, those with a fear of heights will not make good tree surgeons.
You are under no legal obligation to tell your neighbours that you are about to have a tree pruned or otherwise worked on. But for the sake of maintaining good relations, it would not hurt to let them know in advance. If the tree surgeon will need to access the work area through your neighbour’s property then you are legally compelled to inform your neighbour and to receive their consent before work can commence.
In most cases, we transform cut branches into logs for firewood and other waste into wood chips that can be used as a landscaping element. Any waste that cannot be repurposed is disposed of in accordance with government safe disposal regulations.
