Using artificial materials to strengthen weak points in a tree, tree bracing reduces the risk or consequence of tree failure. This is important when trees are close to houses, greenhouses, gardens, roads, garages and driveways.

Tree bracing comes in various forms. Rigid bracing uses steel bolts to strengthen a tree at its weak point. For example, rigid bracing can be used to strengthen two stems that risk splitting apart. Rigid bracing is only suitable for specific trees and defects. Epic Tree Care can provide expert advice on whether it is suitable for your tree. Moray Tree Bracing Services

Flexible bracing is the other, more common form of bracing. Using specially designed ropes and attachments to support weak tree branches and stems. Flexible bracing must be installed at the correct point above a tree’s weak point. Epic Tree Care can advise on whether flexible bracing is appropriate, and install it in the correct way by a qualified tree surgeon.

Flexible bracing can be installed either as a tethering system or a limiting system. Tethering systems are designed to catch a branch in the event of failure. So it doesn’t cause damage to houses, greenhouses, gardens, driveways etc. Therefore limiting systems are designed to reduce the movement of a weak branch or stem, reducing the chance of it splitting.

Epic Tree Care install flexible bracing to the correct tension. Making sure some movement is still allowed, to help the tree’s natural processes. Trees naturally respond to movement by laying down stronger wood. Our tree experts consider this when installing any tree bracing.
