Tree Health Assessment
As the name implies a tree health assessment involves evaluating the overall health of a tree. The tree health assessment is conducted by the arborist who looks at every aspect of the tree from its branches and leaves to its trunk, roots and immediate surroundings. Any signs of distress, disease, infestation or damage will be noted in the final assessment.
The goal of the tree assessment is to determine if the tree is viable. That is, is the tree able to sustain itself, are there issues that can and should be dealt with, or is the tree on its last legs? If the tree needs help the assessment will be used to help devise an appropriate treatment and management regime.
Benefits of a Tree Health Assessment
Having an arborist from Epic Tree Care perform a tree health assessment can produce a variety of benefits, including:
A healthier tree
We tend to think of trees as self-sustaining, and to a certain extent they are. But the difference between a tree that has regular health assessments and professional care and another tree of the same species that grows in the wild can be startling. If you want to ensure the health of your trees sign up for regular tree health assessments.
Effective containment
Often during a tree health assessment, the arborist will discover a pathogen or infestation. If detected early enough a disease may be effectively treated and if not the tree can be removed before the disease spreads to surrounding trees. The same goes for infestations.
Potential long-term savings
When the health of trees is ignored it almost always eventually leads to situations where expensive control measures are called for. Either that or the tree topples over on a house or car or people, or an infestation or disease spreads to other nearby trees invoking the ire of neighbours. Regular tree health assessments can prevent those unfortunate outcomes and save you money.
Preserving the value of your property
Real estate industry studies indicate that healthy trees can increase the value of a property by anywhere from 3 to 15%. On the other hand, a property that had trees but lost them to disease or neglect will lose almost the same amount of market value. The tree health assessment helps you stay on top of your trees’ health.
What’s Included on a Tree Health Assessment Report
The typical tree health assessment report will contain the following information:
- A statement regarding the overall health and condition of the tree
- Measurements of the tree
- Diagnosis of any diseases or infestations
- Recommendations for improving the health of the tree
