What Exactly Is a Tree Condition Survey
Whether you take advantage of our professional services or those of another arboricultural specialist in the area, any tree condition survey that you commission should include the following details:
- General Details – We start by noting general details about each specimen, including its approximate age, its size and species. If we are surveying a large number of trees, we will collate this info to help you determine what type of trees you have on your land and how best to manage them in the future.
- Diseases – Details of any diseases will be recorded in each condition survey, along with a prognosis and recommended course of treatment if applicable. If we perceive a high risk of any specific diseases in the future, we will note this on the survey, along with our recommendations.
- Structural Defects – For safety reasons, it is especially important that every tree condition survey contains details of any structural defects that we identify. For trees that are close to buildings or areas where people frequent, it is crucial to determine whether each specimen is structurally sound and, if not, what dangers it may pose to people and buildings in the immediate vicinity.
- Potential Dangers to Persons or Property – In addition to structural defects that render a tree unstable, there are other factors to consider when evaluating the risk that an individual specimen may pose to persons and property, both now and in the future. These include its overall size, its proximity to nearby buildings and utility lines and how it is likely to grow over the next few years.
With all of these details to hand, presented in an easy-to-read format, you will find it much easier to decide what path to take in the future to ensure that your tree (or trees) flourish.
