- How to safely ascend and descent trees
- How to operate their equipment safely and effectively both on the ground and in the air
- How to identify different diseases common to trees in the UK
- How to evacuate injured colleagues who may be incapacitated high above the ground.
They also need to know how to conduct Tree Inspections, conduct Tree Surveys, issue Tree Preservation Orders and much more.
Where to Get The Necessary Qualifications
Many universities offer courses in forestry, arboriculture, woodland ecology and the like. In addition, organisations like the Royal Forestry Society offer a Certificate in Arboriculture, while City & Guilds and Lantra offer an array of courses for both beginners and those with extensive field experience.
